My clients often ask me, " How did you become a photographer?"
The truth? I didn't just wake up one day with my new camera and take a perfect course. ( See my photography journey Newborn photographer/ Saffron Walden Photographer Marta Cayzer. ) Becoming a photographer isn't about expensive equipment, the newest software, AI skills or Instagram likes. It's about seeing, feeling and love to observe. Before I ever own a "professional gear", I was already a photographer.
I noticed things, how moments flickered and disappeared, the sparkle in someone's eye or how the light moved across the stairs in old building. You can read and learn everyday Learn Photography
If you are dreaming about photography - if it's a hobby or career I would like to share with you the real story how it begins. Here is what I've learned.
YOU DON'T NEED THE BEST CAMERA TO BEGIN. You just need to be CURIOUS. Be moved by the ordinary. If you would like to be a family photographer Capturing Beautiful Family Moments | Marta Cayzer Photography you MUST LOVE PEOPLE. So pick up your camera and capture the things that stir you. Tell stories only you can tell. Train your eye first and learn the gear later. The more you shoot, the more you grow and improve. Don't wait until its "good enough". Share the imperfect work - it's a part of your journey. Lot's of time I have post it photos I wasn't sure about. I always learning, this path is never finished. And that's the beauty of it.
After over 12 years of photography business I can tell you that turning photography into a job isn't always romantic and creative. You will have late night editing, paperwork, tricky clients and the pressure to always be ON. BUT IF YOU LEAVE SPACE TO PLAY , TO EXPLORE, TO REST - YOU KEEP THE FIRE ALIVE.
Tell me where you are on your journey? I would love to hear from you.
